The COVID-19 Pandemic has had a significant impact on individuals and families and as we move through the recovery stage many of the grant funded schemes that were so important in supporting individuals and businesses during the pandemic are now being withdrawn.

The most recent unemployment statistics for East Ayrshire reveal that unemployment levels across all age groups are higher than pre-pandemic levels and there is still uncertainty within the business community and the wider employment market around the timing and extent of recovery, which is likely to lead to additional pressures for individuals and families across East Ayrshire.

To help ease these pressures, using our COVID-19 funding, Elected Members will consider proposals to provide a range of apprenticeship opportunities within the Council, our partner organisations and local businesses.

The programme will support individuals into placements that provide work experience, training, qualifications and progression into the world of work, all based on fair work principles.
