Important update about tax checks

From 2 October 2023, the government are introducing a simple tax check that will take place when people renew the following licences:

The Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982 requires that a metal dealer be licensed.

Licence fees
Type of licence	Fee
Metal dealers/motor salvage operators	£255
Itinerant metal dealers	£255

A metal dealer's licence is required to carry on a business as a metal dealer.

An itinerant metal dealer's licence is required for travelling scrap merchants and allows the dealer to trade anywhere in Scotland.
