We have the following play parks in East Ayrshire, which are maintained by Greener Communities.
These play parks allow youngsters of all ages to play safely in their local area and are equipped with some of the most up-to-date facilities available including:
- multi-use games areas (MUGAS)
- sports walls
- basketball courts
- zip slides
Report an issue with play parks
All play parks are inspected on a weekly basis by fully qualified employees to check for problems. Any problems found during the inspection are fixed onsite or placed in a maintenance schedule.
An external organisation, which is fully qualified and specialises in park safety, is employed on a yearly basis to survey all play parks and to report all risks found.

Playground safety
We all love the thrill of a play park - soaring through the air on the swings; spinning round and round on the roundabouts and sliding down chutes at top speed.
It’s all great fun and while the schools are on holiday, these are popular activities for families and children of all ages to enjoy, whatever the weather.
Safety is always our priority and whilst it’s our job to keep the equipment safe, we still need parents and carers to keep a watchful eye on their youngsters as they play.
Age-specific play equipment
In East Ayrshire we have a range of play equipment on offer in our play parks, and these are all clearly colour-coded to indicate what age groups should be using the equipment.
Our play equipment is suitable for:
- 2 to 6 years (coded red circle) - adult supervision is required at all times
- 7 to 12 years (coded green square) - no running, pushing or shoving
- 12 plus years (coded blue triangle) - use equipment properly
There is signage in all of our parks indicating this, but we would always encourage appropriate adult supervision, especially for young children who possibly cannot interpret these signs and those using our accessible play equipment.
Please share this guidance with your children and young people. By working together we will ensure our children have fun and stay safe!
