The Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007 was passed by the Scottish Parliament in February 2007 and received royal assent on 22 March 2007. It came into effect in October 2008.

The Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007 is supported by the Adult Support and Protection Code of Practice.

Adult support and protection practice in East Ayrshire

Adult Support and Protection practice is supported in East Ayrshire by the West of Scotland Interagency Practice Guidance (PDF 1.18 MB) and this underpins the Adult Support and Protection Social Work Operating Procedure (PDF 1.46 MB).

The revised National Guidance for Adult Protection Committees for conducting Learning Reviews was published on 26 May 2022.

The Ayrshire wide Learning Review Guidance (PDF 1.34 MB) was developed in May 2023.

It is also available during public holidays. You will be put through to the Ayrshire Social Work out of Hours Response Service. A qualified Social Worker will assess the circumstances referred.
