Compost is not currently available for collection at the Household Waste Recycling Centre, Western Road, Kilmarnock due to the ongoing works within the Depot.
All green garden waste collected from households via our kerbside collections as well as the green garden waste deposited at Recycling Centres in East Ayrshire is used to produce a compost product which meets the Association for Organics Recycling's mark of approval - PAS 100 accreditation.
The Council's 'Compost To Go' scheme enables East Ayrshire residents to collect supplies of this compost from the Recycling Centres at Western Road, Kilmarnock and at Garlaff near Cumnock, free of charge.
To obtain compost, simply call into the Cleansing Services office at Western Road, Kilmarnock, visit Garlaff Recycling Centre, visit any East Ayrshire Local Office or visit the petrol station at Morrison's Supermarket, West Langlands Street, Kilmarnock and purchase an empty compost sack, at a cost of £2.00 per sack (limit of 4 sacks per household).
Once you have purchased your sacks, simply visit the Recycling Centres and collect the compost you need.
East Ayrshire Council's compost sacks must be used when collecting compost.
