The regeneration of our town centres is a key priority for East Ayrshire Council. We aim to create vibrant and thriving town centres, which offer a strong retail base, a range of services, an attractive physical environment and are accessible to all.
We have already carried out major regeneration projects in Kilmarnock, Cumnock, Catrine, Dalmellington, Dunlop and Galston. Work has now started on a Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme in Mauchline.
Conservation Area Regeneration Schemes, (CARS) funded jointly by ourselves and Historic Environment Scotland, enable us to offer grants of up to 90% of the cost of restoring external fabric such as slates, leadwork, windows and stonework on historic buildings in our town centres.
