No person (other than one who holds a personal licence) is permitted to sell alcohol, or where alcohol is sold on the premises for consumption on the premises, to serve alcohol to any person unless they have complied with specific training requirements.
At any time when a person (other than one who holds a personal licence) is working in the premises, there must be a training record kept on the premises which relates to that person, and these must be produced to a Licensing Standards Officer on request.
This training can be delivered in a number of ways and must cover an agreed syllabus:
- a personal licence holder can deliver suitable training
- staff could use a workbook under the supervision of a personal licence holder
- staff could undertake a formal training qualification and gain a recognised training certificate
