If you live in East Ayrshire, housing support is available to help prevent or reduce homelessness.
This support is offered to people in temporary homeless accommodation and continues when they move into a permanent home.
A housing support officer can help you keep your home by:
- going with you to view a new home
- helping you get furniture
- assisting with benefit applications
- helping you manage your money
- helping you with homemaking skills
- giving advice on housing issues
- attending meetings, appeals and reviews with you
- helping you fill in forms
- helping you manage letters or bills
- arranging the supply of gas and electricity
- helping you register with a GP
- planning your weekly shopping
- helping you speak up and be heard
- accessing other services such as mental health, addictions, health, money advice
- offering you the opportunity to have someone you can speak to
- supporting you with personal confidence or behaviour issues
- encouraging positive interaction and behaviour through education and training opportunities
