We are planning to increase fees and charges across most services by 2.5%, with a greater or lesser increase proposed within a small number of service areas. In some cases this is the result of statutory requirements, while in others these are needed to protect current levels of service provision.

The Respectful Funeral Service was established to provide a dignified, local and affordable service, offering significant savings on funeral director costs.  Savings in excess of £160k have been passed on to bereaved families in the last year, with 1 in 4 funerals now using this service. With reducing budgets, we have carefully reviewed our fees and charges and are proposing a 10% increase in burial charges. This will allow for ongoing investment within our cemeteries and we estimate that, even with this increase, we will still be below the Scottish local authority average for burial charges.

We also propose:

  • 4% increase for commercial waste uplift and disposal, in line with national guidance
  • 3.5% increase in accommodation charges for marriage ceremonies
  • 5% increase on a range of charges within Ayrshire Road Alliance including applications for traffic orders and permits
