ME2U works in partnership with:
- East Ayrshire schools
- East Ayrshire Vibrant Communities
- Job Centre Plus
- Ayrshire College
The project provides an eight week programme for unemployed individuals who wish to improve their work readiness.
The project comprises of two days per week volunteering within an educational establishment and two days per week within a community centre working towards four SCQF Level 4 and 5 modules delivered by Ayrshire College.
The volunteering element of ME2U allows participants to be matched into a role which relates to the area of work that they would like to pursue. Support and mentoring is provided throughout by a member of staff within the school setting. Roles include:
- classroom assistants
- janitorial
- cleaning
- catering
Vibrant Communities will assist participants to undergo a PVG; equality and diversity and protect people training as well as a 'first steps' session.
Job Centre Plus also provides participants with a uniform and travel warrants.
ME2U is about empowering people to change their lives and to work with them to help break down the barriers which are preventing them from gaining employment.
