A number of initiatives are carried out within primary schools. These include:
- issue of Streetsense 2, the national resource for road safety education
- in-service training for staff
- providing road safety resources and equipment
- visits to schools to speak with staff, parents and children
- introduction of Kerbcraft training
- development of traffic trails
- promotion of the Junior Road Safety Officer (JRSO) scheme
- involvement in health fairs
- support to deal with traffic management issues
- theatre in education productions
- cycle training through the promotion of the Scottish Cycle Training Scheme
- support for Danger Detectives experiential learning event
