Blue Badges are the property of the local authority, who can take them away if they are misused.

The Blue Badge is for the use of the Blue Badge holder only, and it is an offence to allow other people to use it. It is also an offence to park in an on-street Blue Badge parking bay without displaying a Blue Badge.

When to use a Blue Badge

You should only use your Blue Badge if:

  • you are travelling in a vehicle as a driver or passenger
  • someone is collecting you or dropping you off and needs to park

A Blue Badge should not be used to park in a restricted area if the Blue Badge holder is not leaving the car.

Blue Badge holders must ensure that the details on the front of the badge remain readable. If it becomes unreadable, the Blue Badge must be returned to the local authority for reissue.
