Community events
If you're planning a community event our events team will work with you to put the information you need on our events happening in East Ayrshire page.
Our Town Centre Regeneration Team is always on hand to support and give guidance to community groups wishing to run an event, they can help with extra promotion on social media pages or by connecting you to other Council services or community groups for practical help.
Love Eat Shop Enjoy Local
Shop local is a message which most people understand and we’re all familiar with the benefits of using our local high streets and supporting independent traders and local companies, keeping money circulating, access to goods, jobs and opportunities within our own communities.
Throughout the year we work with our partners to run and attend Information and networking events to support local businesses, giving everyone opportunities to network, share information, navigate challenges and influence decision making.
Working closely with partners such as the Kilmarnock Business Association, Cumnock Business Association, Kilmarnock Football Club and Invest East Ayrshire, our campaigns have included:
- town centre banners highlighting local retailers
- East Ayrshire Gift Card, locking spending into the local economy with innovative uses, including various competitions to win an East Ayrshire Gift Card
- short online 'byte sized' training sessions to support our local businesses
- Shop Front Improvement Scheme
- Promoting the Scotland Loves Local Week which is a national campaign launched by Scotland's Towns Partnership and is an annual event to promote and encourage people to shop local and support their communities.
- Nominating groups/community champions for national awards. Most recent is the success achieved by Dalrymple, Skeldon and Hollybush for winning a Scotland Loves Local award for the Climate and Net Zero
