Mauchline Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS) with the support of The Scottish Lime Centre Trust (SLCT) produced a training programme for traditional building skills.
Course Information
Sign up for our busy, week long course at Dumfries House and learn to build solid, freestanding walls using local sandstone, all bedded and pointed up using traditional lime mortars.
You should be reasonably fit and able to lift 25g stones into place (between two learners).
This course is being delivered by our training partner the Scottish Lime Centre Trust under the supervision of their Stonemason and Principal Trainer - Stan Stenhouse.
Duration
One full week course provisionally scheduled for week commencing Monday 4 September 2023.
Venue
Kuanyshev Sawmill, Dumfries House, KA18 2LN.
Audience
Contractors and building owners.
Cost
There will be no costs payable by the attendee, however a refundable £20 deposit will be required upon booking to secure your place within the course. This deposit will be refunded upon completion of the course.
Travel bursary
A financial bursary may be available for attendees to reimburse the cost of travel to and from the course.
Evidence of travel costs must be submitted upon completion of the course to receive payment. For attendees travelling by car receipts of fuel will be required and a reimbursement at the rate of £0.45p/mile will be issued.
