When you apply for a house in multiple occupation (HMO) inspection licence we will arrange to visit the property to ensure that it meets the required standards.
We have adopted benchmark standards based on Scottish Government's Guidance on Mandatory Licensing of Houses in multiple occupation for our assessment of HMO properties.
The standards that must be met are physical standards and tenancy management standards and include:
- fire safety
- heating
- repairing obligations
- space requirements
Multiple occupation licences are issued by the Licensing Section and enforced by Environmental Health.
