When you apply for an HMO licence we will arrange to visit the property to ensure that it meets the required standards.
We have adopted benchmark standards based on the Scottish Government's Guidance on Mandatory Licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation for our assessment of HMO properties. The standards that must be met are physical standards and tenancy management standards and include fire safety, heating, repairing obligations and space requirements. Advice regarding these standards are available from East Ayrshire Council.
Multiple occupation licenses are issued via the licensing section and enforced by Environmental Health.
