If you live in a multiple occupancy home and are on a low income you may be entitled to housing benefit to help pay your rent. Up to 100% rebate of rent may be available, although restrictions on this may apply if you rent the property from a private landlord.
If you rent from a private landlord there is a new way of working out your housing benefit called local housing allowance. You can find out more about this under further information.
If you qualify for benefit we will make the payment directly to you by crossed cheque and you are responsible for ensuring that your landlord receives payment thereafter. There are some circumstances where we may consider making payment to your landlord.
