Important: Applications are now closed and will re-open in February for any child who will be starting their early learning and childcare place in April 2025, (children born between 1 January 2022 and 28 February 2022), and any three and four year-olds who missed the September/November cut off dates.
We have been allocated one-off funding for the financial year 2024-25 to extend the clothing grant scheme to eligible three and four year-olds attending early learning and childcare (ELC) settings within East Ayrshire.
A one-off payment of £50 will be payable for each eligible child whose family circumstances meet the criteria for the early years clothing grant.
The clothing grant will be offered in three phases:
- during July prior to August 2024 start date
- during November prior to January 2025 start date
- during February prior to April 2025 start date
Please wait until your ELC place has been confirmed before making an application for the clothing grant.
Eligibility criteria
Eligible income and benefits:
- Child Tax Credit where household income is £19,995 or less
- Universal Credit where employers take home pay is £1,560 or less per month
- Council Tax Reduction and/or Housing Benefit
- Income Support / Pension Credit
- Jobseekers Allowance (income based)
- Employment and Support Allowance (income related)
- Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

Supporting evidence
When you apply you will be asked to provide supporting evidence of eligibility in the form of a screenshot or photo. This is required as part of your application. Please make sure you have your evidence ready as you won’t be able to complete your application without it.
You will also be asked to provide your bank details so we can issue your payment by BACS. Again, this will be in the form of a screenshot or photo and is required as part of your application. Please make sure that this also clearly shows your name and address or your payment may be delayed.
