The Lifestyle Development and Community Wellbeing Team deliver a range of health walk groups throughout East Ayrshire.
Who can take part
Our health walks are aimed at everyone regardless of their fitness level.
How long the walks last
Walks last for a maximum of 60 minutes, with the exception of one longer walk that we have for people who are looking to challenge themselves a bit more.
Walk leaders and support
We have two walk leaders on our walks who are Paths For All leader trained.
One walk leader is at the front of the group and the second walk leader acts as back up so that everyone can walk at their own pace.
Some of our walk leaders have also undergone dementia friendly and cancer friendly walk leader training. This means that they have more knowledge of these conditions, enabling them to make adaptations to the routes of our walks, ensuring people with either condition to feel comfortable coming along.
Get in touch with us to find out more about these walks.
Are the walks difficult?
All of our walks are low level unless otherwise advertised. While it might take some of our walkers a bit longer to complete the walk, we understand that everyone is working towards their own goal.
Our groups are friendly and welcoming with some of our long standing walkers acting as a buddy for new people. We understand that joining a group where everyone knows each other can be daunting for some.
We always try to finish our route at a tearoom as coffee and cake is the best way to finish off any walk.
