Our Trading Standards Service is responsible for assessing compliance with and enforcement of Trading Standards legislation within East Ayrshire.
Trading Standards have a role in quantity, quality, safety, price and description of goods and services bought in shops and through websites. We also have a role to play in relation to:
- safe storage of petrol
- welfare of farmed animals
- underage sales of tobacco and vapes
- supply of illicit cigarettes, counterfeit goods
- accuracy of weighing and measuring equipment including petrol pumps, measures of alcohol and scales used within retail premises
