Home loss and disturbance payments are made to Council tenants if their home has been selected for demolition. If the demolition is part of an approved clearance scheme, arrangements will be made for rehousing and tenants and residents will be eligible to receive home loss and disturbance payments.
These payments are provided by a BACS (bank transfer). The amount paid out at present is £1,750 in total. The tenant has the choice to use this disturbance payment for whatever they wish although the payment is designed to help with removal costs.
As soon as the tenant has moved out and all keys to the property are received a cheque is then sent to the tenant's new address. This process should take a maximum of two weeks.
