Bin collections over Christmas and New Year

Bin collections during Christmas and New Year will be amended as below.

Collection times

As collection times vary during the festive season, please present containers the night before or by 6:30am on the day of uplift.

If your recycling trolley is not presented in time for collection, materials should be stored until the next week, or can be taken to the nearest recycling centre or recycling point.

Seasonal arrangements for excess waste 

Additional refuse sacks

Up to three additional refuse sacks will be uplifted per household on the first general waste collection (green/grey bin) after Christmas Day. Please place them beside your bin at the kerbside.

Paper and cardboard

Place excess paper and cardboard in plastic sacks beside your recycling trolley. Larger flat-packed cardboard will also be uplifted.

Glass, plastics and cans

Please use your red and black boxes for extra glass, plastics, and cans. If you don’t have a box, you can leave bagged plastics and cans next to your recycling trolley for uplift.

Real Christmas trees

As there are no garden waste collections until March 2026, real Christmas trees can be taken to our recycling centres. 

Special uplifts

To ensure collection before Christmas Day, all special uplift requests must be received by Friday 12 December 2025.

Requests received after this date will not be collected until week beginning Monday 5 January 2026 at the earliest.
