SEARCH logoSingle East Ayrshire Register for Community Housing (SEARCH) is the collective name given to the social landlords within East Ayrshire who have agreed to form a Common Housing Register.

This means that applicants only have to complete a single application form to apply for housing with any of these landlords.

Who can apply for housing

You can apply for social housing if you are 16 or over.

If you are not from the UK or Northern Ireland you might have to meet certain immigration conditions to be considered for housing with the Council, however, you can still apply for housing with our other SEARCH partners.

East Ayrshire Housing Register

How we process housing applications and allocate houses has moved online.

This allows applicants to:

  • create an account via an email address
  • apply for housing
  • manage their application
  • view their position on the list and
  • contact us directly via their application at a time that is suitable to them

We have worked hard to produce a customer-focused system that provides applicants with all the information they may need to make decisions in regard to their application for housing.

How to apply for housing

To apply for housing you are now required to set up an account on the East Ayrshire Housing Register. To do this you must have a registered email address.

Cannot access online services

There is no need to worry if you cannot access online services, we are always here to help.

We can also assist with the completion of your application digitally by contacting Housing Services on 01563 554400 (Option 5) who will be happy to help.

How your application is processed

Once we receive your completed application it will be assessed in accordance with our Common Housing Allocations Policy and you will be placed on the appropriate housing list for your circumstances.

Every application is assessed individually and those with the greatest housing need receive the greatest priority.

Once these checks have been completed a decision regarding the status of your application will be made and you will be advised accordingly.
