Our Locality Service for children, young people and their families aims to assess, plan, develop and deliver a range of supports to children, young people and their families.

This is done in partnership with other agencies in order to enhance their social skills, improve relationships and promote positive lifestyles.

Objectives

The objectives of the Locality Service for children, young people and their families are:

to provide support to children and families in need
to respond to requests and assess the need for a social work service
to undertake assessments (with a focus on strengths, needs, risks and capacity)
to undertake the role of lead professional (where appropriate) to ensure close collaboration between agencies
to develop (or contribute to the development of) a single plan around the child
to intervene early so that children get the help they need when they need it
to investigate, assess and intervene with children referred through child protection procedures
to value and respect different approaches to bringing up children
to work to build trust with parents who find it hard to engage with services
to provide programmed individual and group work in areas such as youth offending, substance misuse, handling teenage behaviour and safe decision making
to support young people in transition from child care settings to independent living
to support young people in tackling substance misuse
to provide a service to young people in the adult justice system
