Our planning authority monitors the restoration and aftercare of opencast coal sites. Monitoring reports for the sites which are currently being restored are available to view below.
Regulation 28 of The Management of Extractive Waste (Scotland) Regulations 2010 requires the Council to maintain an inventory of closed and abandoned waste facilities, as defined in those regulations. No such facilities within East Ayrshire are considered to meet the definitions set out within Regulation 28 at this time.
