Summary of policy aims To develop a digital platform to encourage applicants to self-service on-line to complete an on-line application form. The form will contain help for applicants seeking advice through the use of an on-line questionnaire to signpost and receive advice on a number of non-urgent and immediate housing options queries. Applicants will be able to view their list position for different areas or types of housing on-line. The system will also allow the following for applicants: Applicants can update their application online. They will be able to easily and quickly navigate through their application form, so that they can make updates quickly and conveniently. Applicants can find answers to questions online they are likely to have about the Application process and housing generally. Applicants can request an appointment with an Allocation Officer, so that they can discuss their housing opportunities face-to-face Applicants can view a summary of their housing application responses before they commit to submitting an application, so that they have an opportunity to make a change.
Key issues The development of the on-line housing application form is designed to ensure that applicants can track and monitor their application from the comfort of their own home at any time of the day, allowing 24-hour access. There is still the option to apply in person or by telephone which will not affect the position of the application This will allow people who may find it difficult to access services during business times or who may have mobility or language barriers in accessing services during business hours.
Summary of involvement with Groups The on-line application has gone through rigorous consultation and testing with potential applicants which has resulted in a number of changes to the application. The consultation has helped inform the on-line application process. One example has been in relation to declaring medications, applicants are able to upload their prescription rather than stating each individual medication they may be taking.
