If an emergency situation occurs and you have to be evacuated from your home, the Council will set up a rest centre. Rest centres are usually established within a public building, such as a community centre or school, and will provide a place of refuge until you are able to return home or secure alternative accommodation.
At the rest centre you will be able to contact relatives, have something to eat or drink and receive regular updates on the emergency situation.
We have employees who are trained to assist you at the rest centres. They will request information about you and your family to ensure everyone is accounted for and that you have clean clothes, dietary requirements are met and you have the medication you need.
