Commercial waste disposal sites

From 1 April 2025, Cleaner Communities will be introducing a new service for businesses at:

• Garlaff Transfer Station, Skares Road, Garlaff, near Cumnock, KA18 2RB
• Southhook Waste Transfer Centre, Southhook Road, Kilmarnock, KA1 2NN

This service will allow businesses to access the transfer stations and dispose of waste, both residual and recycling, at the weighbridge.

There will be no monthly fee or invoicing, businesses will pay as they go by card from their vehicle. 

How to register

Businesses must register with Cleaner Communities before their first visit by calling 01563 554400 (option 6), or emailing waste@east-ayrshire.gov.uk.

The business will be registered as an account holder, not the vehicle registration so on return visits, different vehicles can be used.

Businesses don't have to be registered or operate within East Ayrshire to use this service.

Visiting the transfer station

When you first visit the transfer station the individual who registered must show their:

• waste carriers licence
• SEPA (Scottish Environment Protection Agency) registration

You will then receive Duty of Care documentation before taking part in a site induction.
