Covering a total of 3,400 sqkm along the Clyde Coastline into South West Scotland, and stretching inland to rolling hills and fertile green pastures, Ayrshire has a diverse cultural, industrial, agricultural and historical heritage. It is home to a vast range of businesses of all sizes, from bespoke artisanal enterprises to large scale high tech and precision engineering companies.
With coastal amenities, golf courses, castles and country parks, allied with a burgeoning reputation for quality locally produced food and drink, it also has an exciting and dynamic tourism trade.
East Ayrshire, South Ayrshire and North Ayrshire Councils and their partners recognise the importance of a regional approach to build on all the area's assets and key sectors to grow the economy. To bring this to fruition, they have been working together for the past three years to develop a Regional Economic Partnership which has recently been successful in securing the £300m Ayrshire Growth Deal which promises to deliver:
- 13,000 jobs
- 100,000m2 of business and innovation space
- enhanced digital and transport infrastructure
- £5m of business support packages
- £2bn of private sector investment
