Dunlop Primary and Early Childhood Centre
A sum of £3.700m will be invested in Dunlop Primary School which will include an extension to increase the learning and teaching spaces and to improve dining, toilets, PE and office accommodation within the school.
In light of the recent Scottish Government statement in relation to the expansion of early years’ provision, all projects within the Capital programme involving Early Childhood Centres will be reconsidered to ensure that any planned scope of works can deliver the increased hours. This includes the Dunlop project where £0.600m was previously allocated for the upgrade of the Early Childhood Centre.
Work is on-going to develop proposals for the new school extension, including a proposed improvement to the main entrance of the building. A draft scheme for discussion has been prepared which is also currently being costed to determine deliverability against the existing budget allocation. Initial discussions have taken place with the Head Teacher to consider the future roll of the school to ensure that this extension is future-proofed for the long term.
