A Digital Inclusion approach will ensure everyone has the opportunity and capability to be digitally included as we connect residents, businesses, partners and technology and promote thriving digital communities and digital investment across East Ayrshire.

What we have done so far

ObjectivesWhat we have achieved

Digital inclusion

  • The East Ayrshire Digital Access Network (EADAN) was recognised nationally and awarded Silver Award at the iESE Public Sector Transformation Awards in 2022 for its work in tackling digital exclusion, inequalities and isolation

Digital divide

  • During the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, together with our partners, we supported over 1,500 families and households, helping them to get online

Digital access

  • We are working with BT, one of our technology partners, to provide free public wifi in our larger town centres using smart street hubs that offer:
    • free calls and wifi
    • easy access to local information
    • advertising opportunities for local business
    • updates on Council services

Digital infrastructure

  • 96.4% of East Ayrshire premises now have access to superfast broadband through the Digital Scotland Superfast Broadband programme
  • Working alongside local businesses and partners, we have developed an innovative virtual high street using a combination of the ShopAppy platform and East Ayrshire Gift Card to promote a ‘shop local’ mindset
Ayrshire Growth Deal
  • Through the Ayrshire Growth Deal over £251 million of investment has been secured to help build economic resilience and inclusive growth, particularly in relation to Digital, through the key infrastructure programmes
