The review of this pre-existing policy is designed to provide a positive impact on the affected individuals and all groups by improving access to Community Equipment and Adaptations. The review has clarified and strengthened the definitions in regards to the National Standard Eligibility Criteria and provides reinforced guidance to Social Work and NHS professionals when referring individuals to the service. The renewed protocol promotes quality of life and independent living by setting out clearer criteria for referrals and more robust timescales for action which are realistic and targeted. There are over 6000 referrals to the service annually, with 79% of these being completed with 3 working days and 95% within 5 working days. The new criteria ensures that those most in need of rapid action receive priority without compromising service levels
