Some people find it hard to express their views and make choices. They may need someone to speak up on their behalf or to stand by them when they speak up for themselves in order that people will listen and take notice of what they say.

Independent advocacy supports a person’s right to have their own voice heard. An advocate might attend meetings with you and help you represent your views.

In East Ayrshire, independent advocacy support is available across all ages and for people experiencing all types of challenges including children and young people who are accommodated by the Council, people with learning disabilities who experience mental ill health and people aged 65 and over.

If you think you might need advocacy services please contact East Ayrshire Advocacy Services.
