Social work services
Social Work Services are subject to external regulation and inspection by the following bodies:
Care inspectorate
The Care Inspectorate is responsible for ensuring that social care and social work services are delivered in accordance with National Care Standards.
It's responsible for the inspection of all services set out in the Regulation of Care (Scotland) Act 2001 including care homes, care at home and day care services.
The Care Commission also investigates complaints about registered services.
Scottish Social Services Council
The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is responsible for raising standards in the social service workforce and ensuring that high quality services are delivered by a competent, confident workforce.
This means that certain categories of staff (including social workers) are required to be qualified to a minimum level and register with SSSC.
Members of the workforce and their employers are required to adhere to SSSC’s codes of conduct.
