Rationale for decision

This Policy provides guiding principles to be followed by all employees in relation to the use of AI tools, particularly ‘generative' AI such as ChatGPT, Bard, DALL-E, or similar, and gives guidance on the responsible and ethical development of AI solutions for Council use-cases. It supports good practice to ensure robust protection and stewardship of the Council's data resources. This policy is designed to ensure that the use of AI is ethical, complies with all applicable laws and regulations, and complements the Council's existing information, security, and data policies.
