If you are finding it difficult to pay your energy bills, there is a range of help available from the organisations below.

UK Government

If you claim certain benefits or tax credits, you may be eligible for an extra payment to help with the cost of living. If you’re eligible, payments will be made automatically.

Home Energy Scotland

Home Energy Scotland can help you to access grant funding of around £5,000 for energy saving home improvements including new heating and insulation funded by the Scottish Government.

ECO4 Flexibility

ECO4 Flexibility (ECO4 Flex) is a new Ofgem Scheme funded by energy suppliers. Private renters and homeowners can apply for financial help to make their homes more energy efficient.

Independent support and advice

Citizens Advice Scotland

Citizens Advice Scotland provides a range of independent advice and support and can help you to access grants and benefits to help pay your energy bills.

Citrus Energy

Citrus Energy: Lemon Aid is a social enterprise that exists to help energy consumers make genuine savings on gas and electricity costs through impartial advice and recommendations.

If you are in fuel poverty, their Lemon Aid initiative help you to reduce your bills by sourcing the best available energy prices and can also help with meter and billing problems, including the resetting of pre-payment meters and queries relating to how your pre-payment meter works.

Energy Advice Scotland

Energy Advice Scotland provide free, practical advice and information on energy-related matters.

If you are experiencing any problems with your energy bills, they can help with any energy enquiry relating to your supplier (no matter how complex) and help you understand your energy supplier’s complaints process.

Energy Agency

Energy Agency is a charitable organisation providing free, impartial and expert advice to households, businesses and communities, covering energy efficiency, renewable energy and sustainable transport.
