Armed Forces Community Covenant

The East Ayrshire Armed Forces Community Covenant was a voluntary statement of mutual support between a civilian community and its local armed forces community.

It was intended to complement the Armed Forces Covenant, which outlines the moral obligations between the nation, the government, and the Armed Forces at a local level.

There is now a statutory duty (the “Covenant Duty”) to have due regard to the principles of the Armed Forces Covenant, when exercising certain statutory functions in the fields of education, healthcare, and housing. This is in relation to Service personnel, their families, and veterans – particularly where they have been injured or bereaved. The Covenant Duty came into effect on 22 November 2022.

We continue to recognise what our Armed Forces have done and continue to do for us on a daily basis.

You can access the guidance by downloading the Statutory Guidance on the Armed Forces Covenant Duty (PDF 967Kb)
