Major improvement works are now complete at Moorfield roundabout and the Ayrshire Roads Alliance wishes to thank commuters for their patience.
The works, which cost over £450,000, were extensive and included lane reconstruction, the realignment of approach islands, replacement carriageway surfaces, resetting ironwork, replacing street lights, traffic signs, road markings and road studs.
The project also included the installation of a footpath adjacent to the B7064 carriageway linking Irvine Road to Dundonald Road, Kilmarnock.
Stewart Turner, Head of Roads: Ayrshire Roads Alliance said: “This was a major improvement programme on a road that is a main artery within Ayrshire. Thousands of people use this road every day so it is essential that it is maintained to a very high standard.
“Major improvement works are disruptive, there is just no getting away from that, and it takes a great deal of planning to ensure that our local communities and commuters are kept mobile while works are ongoing.
“I would like to thank the travelling public for their co operation and understanding throughout.”
The work was carried out by the main contractor, Finco Contracts Limited, Beith.
