The Consul General of India, Mr. Hitesh J. Rajpal, received a very warm welcome when he visited East Ayrshire this week.
Mr Rajpal was invited to the Burns Monument Centre in Kilmarnock in the morning where he received a tour of the Centre and learned more about the Family History library and Scotland’s People, a website which is the official Scottish genealogy resource.
The next stop of the day was lunch at Patna Primary School. Patna has particularly close links to India as there is also a Patna in India, a riverside city that extends along the south bank of the Ganges River.
The visitors were piped in and then entertained with Scottish dancing, singing and a Burns recitation before enjoying a Scottish-themed menu with an Indian twist at lunchtime.
