Celebrate good times in East Ayrshire

Celebrate East Ayrshire will be kicking off on Saturday 6 August with a large event in Kilmarnock town centre.

As part of the weeklong celebrations, Summer of Sport and Blast from the Past will take place between 12pm and 4pm at the Cross and is set to be an action packed day for the whole family.

There will be speedshot football to test keepie uppie and dribbling skills; 9 hole crazy golf and street golf and Olympic sport taster sessions including weightlifting and gymnastics.

A Blast from the Past arcade trailer featuring old favourites like Pacman and Pinball will help the 40-somethings in the crowd relive their teenage years spent at the amusements.

And there will also be traditional games like space hoppers and hula hoops.

On Saturday 13 August, a similar event will be held between 12pm and 4pm at Rothesay House in Cumnock. Ayrshire Segway will be joining the party and over 10’s will be able to test their balancing skills.

Celebrate East Ayrshire is a weeklong programme of events and activities run by the community for the community. The events harness the strong sense of community pride felt during the day of the Queen’s Baton Relay back in 2014.

Activities are taking place across our communities from Saturday 6 to Sunday 14 August. Find out more
