Update: school closures Thursday 1 March 2018: 1:20pm
Following national advice and reports from the Met Office which show areas of East Ayrshire still in an Amber weather zone – and other areas at risk of snow – we are prioritising the safety and wellbeing of our young people and all schools and Early Childhood Centres in East Ayrshire will remain closed to pupils on Friday 2 March 2018.
We anticipate all schools and Early Childhood Centres will re-open as normal on Monday 5 March, but please check here and on social media for the latest updates, given the unpredictable and rapidly changing weather patterns.
Wednesday 28 February and Thursday 1 March 2018
Following the unprecedented change of weather patterns reported by the Met Office today, East Ayrshire Council has closed all schools and Early Education Centres in the area.
They will remain closed tomorrow, Thursday 1st March.
Parents can collect children now and pupils who rely on transport have been getting collected from1.30pm. All pupils will be looked after until they can be collected.
If parents/carers are unable to collect their children immediately, or are likely to face difficulties getting to the school are asked to contact the school directly.
Schools and Early Childhood Centres will remain closed tomorrow, Thursday 1 March 2018 and updates for Friday 2 March will be issued at 1pm tomorrow.
We apologise sincerely for the inconvenience this decision is likely to cause and trust most will understand the difficulties we faced with rapidly changing and unpredictable weather.
Our absolute concern has been to ensure the safety of our pupils and staff and we greatly appreciate your patience and understanding.
