Today is National Heritage Lottery Heritage Treasures Day 2021. And they’re celebrating all the great work done by the Heritage Sector.This year, they’re focusing on the people that have enabled the sector to keep going, and the places and online heritage programmes that have kept us uplifted in these difficult times

Here at Mauchline Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS) we’ve got lots to be thankful for –  here are our top 5 highlights:

Our fantastic Volunteer Heritage Research Ambassadors who have continued to research Mauchline’s extensive and variable historic past throughout the pandemic.

The eminent Professor Murray Pittock, Scottish Historian, Bradley Professor of Literature, Head of the Centre for Robert Burns Studies, Pro Vice Principle at Glasgow University and author of the recent publication, “Robert Burns and the Scottish Economy” for taking the time out from his very busy schedule this year to enjoy a walking tour of the 23 properties comprising Mauchline’s Burns Heritage Trail.
