A message from our Chief Executive

“In recent days, following announcements from UK and Scottish Governments, we have been stepping-up our preparations, with our partners, to keep our communities safe, in response to the coronavirus outbreak. We have developed these web pages to provide public updates on service delivery for individuals, communities and local businesses.

“Our priority is to ensure the continuity of essential services, wherever possible and to ensure that our employees are protected.  A number of our employees are now absent, because they are self-isolating.  This means we will be moving towards delivering essential community critical services and that progressively we will no longer be delivering non-essential services, in line with our Business Continuity Plans.    These web pages will let you know where services are changing and provide links to further information.

“Our Health and Social Care Partnership Teams provide essential services that keep vulnerable people safe and also provide personal care services, to those who require them.  This will continue to be our focus, however, services will change to ensure that we are able to support the most vulnerable in our communities and importantly, that we do all we can to release beds within hospitals, for those acutely in need.   Our teams will continue to work closely with people who receive our health and social care services so that any changes are discussed with them and their families.

“We have been humbled by the generous offers of support from individuals, community organisations, faith groups and local businesses.  These offers are not surprising given the kindness and compassion that we see every day, across East Ayrshire.  To ensure that support is directed to where it is most needed, our Vibrant Communities Team are linking with community and voluntary organisations across East Ayrshire, to discuss the support roles they could play in their communities and how we, as a Council, can assist.

“Both the Scottish Government and UK Government have announced support for businesses and we will be seeking to ensure that as further details become available, these are communicated and promoted to businesses within East Ayrshire.

“We would encourage everyone to follow advice and guidance to keep yourself safe.  Together we will get through this.”
