What is a safe place?
Keep Safe is an initiative developed by I Am Me Scotland and Police Scotland to help people feel safe within their community.
The initiative identifies suitable premises and works in partnership with them to ensure the premises can become a safe place for someone who may feel frightened or distressed, these premises are known as Safe Places.
Approved premises will identify themselves by displaying the Keep Safe window sticker.
Keep Safe contact cards will be issued by Social Care and Health workers and Partner Agencies to people who use our services. The card will allow people who are lost, worried or need help to show their card to a member of staff within the Keep Safe premises. The member of staff can then try to help the person and if they are unable to help, they can use the contact numbers on the card to contact someone who can help.
We have started signing up premises in East Ayrshire. Find the Safe Places in other areas.
