East Ayrshire Council and the joint trades unions joined together on Saturday to support International Workers’ Memorial Day.
A special memorial was held at Dean Castle Country Park to remember workers who have been killed or injured in the course of their work within East Ayrshire.
The event, which was organised by Kilmarnock and Loudoun Trades Union Council, saw wreaths being laid at the Trades Union Council Memorial Tree within the park.
Councillor Douglas Reid, Leader of the Council, said: “It is important that we take the time to commemorate those who have died whilst at work and East Ayrshire Council is proud to be part of what is now an international event.
“We are committed to the continuous improvement of health and safety standards, and we will continue to work with employees and Trade Unions to ensure that health and safety remains a key priority for us all.”
