What does Community Renewable Energy (CoRE) mean? Join this free online event to find out...

East Ayrshire Council's Regeneration Planning and Development team is  holding an online Community Information Event about their exciting new Community Renewable Energy (CoRE)  project and they're inviting the public  to join them via Microsoft Teams  to learn more  about this innovative scheme and what it means for the people of Cumnock, Auchinleck and the surrounding communities.

Centre of  Excellence

With an academic and business Centre of Excellence at Knockroon as the centre piece of an ambitious 15 year scheme, CoRE will transform the lives of people living in communities across East Ayrshire, creating a local low cost, carbon-free energy grid and providing local jobs, apprenticeships, educational opportunities, transport network and well insulated “green” new and retrofit housing.

Zero carbon

CoRE will play a key role in helping us reach East Ayrshire’s target of becoming a zero carbon area by 2045, making the most of the wealth of locally available geothermal, hydro, wind, hydrogen and solar potential for creating a 100% renewables based energy supply.

The new centre, to be built at Knockroon will house  academic researchers, businesses, technologists and engineers whose mission will be to tackle the challenge of creating zero housing, transport and energy systems to meet carbon emissions targets and act as a model for other communities.

For this session the Council's team will be joined by members of the design team  and our partners from the University of Strathclyde. They will share proposed designs for Centre of Excellence. They'll also be happy to discuss and answer any questions about the project
