Galston’s Cross Street Co-op has implemented a shuttle bus service to transport customers to the Post Office in nearby Newmilns whilst the store, which incorporates Galston’s own Post Office, is temporarily closed due to structural issues.
The temporary service, which will begin on Wednesday 15 February, will operate three return journeys per day between Galston and Newmilns on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
The Co-op’s shuttle bus service timetable is as follows:
Monday to Friday:
• 11.00am Galston, Cross Street – Newmilns Post Office, Brown Street.
• 11.45am Newmilns Post Office, Brown Street – Galston, Cross Street
• 12.00pm Galston, Cross Street – Newmilns Post Office, Brown Street.
• 12.45pm Newmilns Post Office, Brown Street – Galston, Cross Street
• 1.00pm Galston, Cross Street – Newmilns Post Office, Brown Street.
• 1.45pm Newmilns Post Office, Brown Street – Galston, Cross Street
A Co-op spokesperson, said: “We are very conscious that the people of Galston need access to a Post Office whilst Galston’s own Post Office services are temporarily unavailable. By implementing this shuttle bus we hope to make the situation a little easier for people who live in the town.”

The Co-op store at 7 Cross Street remains temporarily closed due to structural issues. The Co-op is working with East Ayrshire Council, who own the building, to re-evaluate the situation but in the meantime shoppers can use the Co-op store on Polwarth Street which is just 250 metres away.

Structural issues have arisen over the weekend at the Co-op/Post Office building in Galston. As a result we have had to close these venues and erect safety cordons while further investigations take place. Our Local Area Office is still open as normal. We will issue further updates as more information becomes available
