Strictly no smoking at Kilmarnock bus station

Kilmarnock bus station is a smoke free zone and East Ayrshire Council’s Corporate Enforcement Unit wants it to stay that way.

The CEU will be carrying out daily patrols at the bus station to protect passengers from people who are still choosing to light up.

Covered walkways immediately across from the Palace Theatre mean that the no smoking area starts before stance one and continues throughout the bus station to beyond the last stance.

However, many people are still choosing to smoke particularly in and around stance one and the My-Bus service. This area has been covered to protect passengers, staff and the public from the harmful effects of passive smoking.

Anyone caught smoking will be issued with a fixed penalty notice of £50 under the Smoking, Health and Social Care (Scotland) Act 2005.

Nobody likes to get a penalty, so the message is clear – please follow the rules and don’t light up in the bus station or you might get your fingers burnt to the tune of £50.
