Roon the Toon is coming soon

Roon the Toon, Kilmarnock’s new 10k road race, will be welcoming almost 1400 runners to the town on Sunday 12 June.

Leaving the Ayrshire Athletics Arena on Queens Drive at 10am, competitors will race through the town centre and surrounding countryside, over a fast, predominately flat course.

The route of the race will be:

• Queens Drive
• Lawson Street
• Bentinck Street
• East Shaw Street
• West Shaw Street
• Barbadoes Road
• Aird Avenue
• Holmes Road
• Dundonald Road
• John Finnie Street
• Sturrock Street
• Old Mill Road
• Queens Drive

The race will take between 35 minutes, for the fastest runners, and an hour and three quarters for the slowest runners.

There will be no road closures in place, the race will be managed by rolling road blocks which will lessen the impact on residents and road users.

Some delays are expected and the Council apologises for any inconvenience this may cause. Priority access will be maintained for emergency vehicles at all times.

Parking for competitors, and their supporters, will be available at Scott Ellis on Old Mill Road; Odeon Cinema, Queens Drive and in Council car parks throughout the town centre.
