250 hopeful jobseekers moved a step closer to employment at the Grand Hall, as they attended East Ayrshire Council’s Recruitment Event.
With 24 stalls, manned by local employers and training agencies, there were opportunities on offer in many different spheres, including food and beverage, the care industry, call centres and the army. Jobs on offer ranged from those for older, experienced people, to training schemes and Modern Apprenticeships for school leavers.
The employers, who ranged from ICafe, to Culzean Textile Solutions, Billy Bowie Special Projects to Sainsbury and Braehead Foods, were delighted with the response, with the WebHelp team saying it was a “great event – in a couple of hours we managed to identify 19 hopefuls who will go on to our assessment day.”
Councillor Jim Roberts, Cabinet Member for Skills and Learning, East Ayrshire Council said: “We’ve always had a good track record with our employment events and this was no exception. With a great turnout of people and prospective employers, many useful connections were made. The great thing about this event was that it showed the great range of job opportunities available locally for people of all ages, skill levels and abilities.
“One of our greatest assets in East Ayrshire is our workforce. With events like these and the training and help that our employability and business support teams can give to employers, the future is looking bright.”
