It’s full steam ahead for the research and artistic skills of pupils from Netherthird Primary in Cumnock. Their work will go on… for all the world to see…with an exhibition of their models of the RMS Titanic currently on display in the Glaisnock Shopping Centre.
Put together as part of a wider project about the Titanic, the exhibition is the latest in a series of displays put on in the mall by Cumnock Town Centre Manager, Fiona Nicolson, from East Ayrshire Council’s Economic Development Team. She explains: “The Glaisnock Centre is shortly due for redevelopment. Many of the shops are not now occupied as their leases have expire and they’ve they’ve moved premises or retired. Others are awaiting the completion of East Ayrshire Council’s bespoke new 7 unit development being built on Townhead Street, which will open early this summer.
“As a result we’ve got vacant shop units which provide an excellent showcase for the work of local pupils. We’ve already had a number of exhibitions, drama productions and crafting workshops in the centre, bringing life to the building and making the most of the opportunity to show off all the tremendous talent we have in our schools.
“This Titanic show is just the tip of the iceberg… it’s the latest in my programme of events designed to help people make the most of Cumnock Town Centre as a great place to shop, work and socialise.”
